Garrett College in coordination with the University of Maryland Extension is sponsoring a one-session course, ?Garden Cleanup and Planting Cover Crops? at the Northern Outreach Center in Grantsville. Class will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 1-3 p.m. This course will discuss the answers to the following common questions: what plants are okay to leave in the garden over winter, what is the best way to get rid of weeds that are going to seed, and how deep should one plow plant debris that might be infected with diseases? The class will also inform participants of the best way to sow a cover crop, along with sharing some good examples of doing so. The course is being instructed by Ashley Bodkins who received her bachelor of science degree in agronomy from West Virginia University and an associate degree in horticulture from Potomac State College. She works for the University of Maryland Extension where she answers home horticulture questions and coordinates the Maryland Master Gardener Program for Garrett County.
