The program provides instruction on basic pool management, water chemistry, disinfection, water circulation, and filtration. This course not only prepares the student to take and pass the certified pool operator exam, but also provides the knowledge needed to effectively and efficiently run an aquatic facility. The course also covers the appropriate Maryland COMAR codes and general guidelines for individual situations. All participants must be at least 16 years of age and be issued certification to take the course. Upon successful completion of the course and a passing score of the exam, students will be issued a certificate from the instructor which will then need to be submitted to the local health department in order to obtain official certification.
