A 50th Anniversary Memorial Program will be held in Grantsville, MD commemorating the crash of Buzz One B-52 bomber on January 13, 1964. A memorial service will be held at the Little Crossing Memorial located 1 mile east of Grantsville. Route 40 will be closed from 10:30-12:30 for the service conducted by the American Legion Post 214 and Area Veterans Service Organizations. The keynote speaker will be Lt.Col. James Brown of the 171st Air Refueling Wing of Pittsburgh and remarks made by retired Maj. Gen. Melissa Rank, resident of Garrett County. Citations will be presented by Delegate Wendell Beitzel from the Maryland State Legislature to the families of the fliers of flight Buzz One Four.
The Memorial Program, coordinated by the Grantsville Community Museum, will be held at the Avilton Community Center where food will be available and exhibits on display.
