This workshop is designed for people who have no experience with watercolor. Day one is an introduction to supplies (such as watercolor paper) and painting a color wheel (describing primary colors and such). Day two and three are painting along with the instructor - a landscape and lake respectively. Local artist Sue Arnson will be instructing the course. Arnson has been painting for over a decade and belongs to the Western MD Watercolor Society and Allegany Arts Council. Prior to moving to Garrett County she was a teacher in Montgomery County, MD. She has studied with Alexis Lavine, Jim McNeil, David Daniels and Frederick Graff. The minimum age to take the course is 16 years. Participants need to bring a container for water, some paper towels, an old bath towel, and a hard surface (approx. 16 x20) to put paper on (cardboard is good). Other supplies (tubes of watercolor paint; red, lemon yellow and ultramarine blue, a flat watercolor brush 3/4" or 1 ", and 140# cold press watercolor paper) can be purchased from the instructor for an additional $20 fee. Class size is limited to a small group so the instructor may give individualized attention to each student.
