Sue Arnson, local artist and instructor, will teach an upcoming Garrett College Continuing Education and Workforce Development course, Watercolor for Beginners. The classes are slated for May 19 and 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The course will be held at the Northern Outreach Center in Grantsville. Geared for the dedicated beginning watercolorist, this course will allow students to learn more about the astonishing world of watercolor. Session one will cover monochromatic painting and session two will demonstrate how to "find" a painting in a photograph, do the drawing, transfer it to paper and execute the painting. Arnson has been painting for over a decade and belongs to the Western MD Watercolor Society and Allegany Arts Council. Prior to moving to Garrett County she was a teacher in Montgomery County, MD. She has studied with Alexis Lavine, Jim McNeil, David Daniels and Frederick Graff. Minimum age to take the course is 16 years. Students need to bring their own supplies (paint, palette, paper, brushes, etc.). Class size will be limited to allow the instructor to give individualized attention to each student.
